Farewell TechSpansion
by Nick on Oct.03, 2008, under Musings
This morning, my friend Tyler over at TechSpansion announced that he’s dropping their entire product line and closing up shop.
Normally I wouldn’t care, but TechSpansion is a notable exception for their iSquint, VisualHub, and AudialHub applications for OS X, which are considered by many to be the best and easiest way to convert video and audio on the Mac platform and the inspiration for my previously-halted h.26easy project.
I wish Tyler the best, and hope that his future pursuits are fruitful. And as for iSquint, VisualHub, and AudialHub, they will be missed.

Wait, you know the guy behind VisualHub? No wonder you corrected my tweet about the “team” behind the app. It really has been one of my most used applications. I’ll miss it’s constant updates every time I open her up.

@Justin Yes, I do. I probably shouldn’t have said that, though.
And you’re (obviously) not alone in mourning the disappearance of such a great application. I sent him a few links earlier to a bunch of the Twitter posts from users in shock over the disappearance and there’s a few growing threads over on the TechSpansion support forums with users on both sides of the fence.
And yeah, it is pretty amazing to think that that all came from one person in comparison to the large groups over at Microsoft who can’t seem to get it right (if you know what I mean).
