Software
One of the most popular anonymous geek quotes on the Internet is this:
“Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.”
This is why I try to write things so that even the brain-dead can use them. If you can move a mouse and have a decent reading level above kindergarten, you should be able to use my software.
Below is the list of software currently available for download and (semi-) actively developed:
- SkipTo (open-source) – Keyboard-Based Application Launcher
- Rolling Paper – Simple Wallpaper Cycler
- HideIcons – Hides Desktop Icons
- Expl0rer Script Launcher – Batchlike Scripts Without The Console
h.26easy is no longer available.
In addition to the above, I try to keep a collection of shell/batch scripts that I write that I think others may find a use for. They’re cheap and dirty, and often times hackish, but fundamentally they work (for me). These I offer with absolutely no support, and expect you to take half a second to understand what they’re going to do when you use them.
- Start-Hamachi – A quick and dirty script to launch tuncfg and hamachi and get the application online, for Linux (and potentially other *nix-variant) machines.
- Update-WP-Nightly – I don’t recommend you use this unless you know exactly what you’re doing, but this script enables you to keep your blog up to date with the latest WordPress nightly builds. It’s cron-friendly (or at least partially so), but can also be used manually.
There is also a list of software here that I am no longer actively developing, but still offered for release because of its usefullness. Keep in mind that these are old, outdated, and may or may not work.
