SkipTo
SkipTo is an open-source application launcher designed to help unclutter your desktop, while placing a larger array of applications at your fingertips without having to use a mouse. SkipTo is designed as a lightweight, partial implementation of Katapult, a Linux application launcher used in KDE, but with a more modular shortcutting system. Rather than be limited to the documents in your home directory or applications in your start menu, SkipTo allows you to define shortcuts for anything you might need, including the URLs of web pages, documents, network resources, and anything else you might need quick access to. And did I mention it helps to free your desktop of hideous rows of icons? SkipTo was originally a pet project of the TechCentric IPTV show (see segment here), and has since become one of my semi-regularly-developed applications. Additionally, the source code has been made publicly available. However, my current resources prevent me from hosting a CVS or Subversion server and allowing other people to directly patch the files in real time; instead, you can e-mail patches directly to me and I’ll apply them to these downloads, or you can offer your own (sending them to me being the preferred option, however). Usage: For usage instructions, read the Readme included.
